Working With International Students
Improving Customer Service and the Student Experience
through Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity
Target group: Frontline staff who come into regular contact with international students.
This workshop is particularly well suited to:
- Reception Staff
- Accommodation Office Staff
- Porters and Cleaners
- Canteen Staff
- Administration Staff
- Tutors and Hall Staff
- Security Staff
This workshop is aimed at staff who have contact with international students in their
job but may be unaware of the problems they face and the cultural barriers that can
prevent effective communication. Through raising awareness and developing emotional
competence and intercultural communication skills it aims to improve customer
service and in turn the student experience. Current international students play a key
part in the workshop giving staff the chance to meet, talk and connect with students
outside the pressures of the work environment.
£115 per person [includes lunch and refreshments].
Start: 10.30am
International lunch: 12.30pm - 1.30pm
Finish: 3.30pm.
The workshops can be held at the International Society. For those who are not familiar with the
charity a
tasty lunch in the Small World
Cafe, tour of the premises and short talk about the
organisation are included.
Alternatively they can take place at your
place of work by arrangement.
The workshops provide a good opportunity to network and share
best practice.
